About Me

Welcome to my blog!  My name is Melissa Sethna and I am a high school literacy coach by day and mother to two wonderful boys by night.  I am currently working at Mundelein High School in the suburbs of Chicago.  Before moving up to high school, I was an elementary classroom teacher and then a reading specialist.  I have always had a passion for books, technology, and working with adults.

I created this blog as a way for me to  share books, tech, and coaching ideas that I discover while teaching.  As a literacy coach, I have the luxury of working with and learning from amazing teachers in departments throughout our building. We are 1:1 with Chromebooks and trying new ideas all the time.

In my free time, I love to read books.  I am a strong believer in book choice and sharing my joy of literature with my family and students. I wouldn't be the teacher I am today without my reading heroes - Penny Kittle, Kelly Gallagher, Kylene Beers, Bob Probst, Teri Lesesne, and Donalyn Miller - who inspire me to take risks and encourage others to do the same.

Thank your for joining me on this journey.
